How can fishers from the Gulf of Maine help to prevent impacts from lost gear? The Global Ghost Gear Initiative (GGGI) brings together stakeholder from the entire seafood supply chain, and provides guidance and practical solutions for minimizing lost gear and its impacts. Their Best Practice Framework provides effective principles for managing fishing gear, tailored to the different stakeholders within the seafood industry.
In this interactive webinar, you will hear from Erin Pelletier, Executive Director at the Gulf of Maine Lobster Foundation (GOMLF), who will provide insights on how GOMLF is collaborating with fishers and GGGI to actively incorporate principles from the Best Practice Framework, enabling fishers to prevent, mitigate, and remove lost fishing gear. You will also have the opportunity to share your experience and hear from fellow fishers about how they’re working to address this issue.
You will also hear about two new tools for GGGI members, which make implementing these practices even simpler. These tools provide clear actions that you can take now, in order to reduce the impact from lost fishing gear.
Join us on Tuesday, September 22 at 4:00 PM for a conversation about how to reduce impacts from lost gear, and to hear examples from others within the fishing industry.
